Featured Project – Neutralizer Facilities
Tropical Farms WWTP Neutralizer Facility – Stuart, FL
North Jensen Beach WWTP Neutralizer Facility – Jensen Beach, FL
Campbell Plumbing and Mechanical, while working for BCR Environmental, Inc. completed two (2) wastewater treatment plant facilities in the Florida cities of Stuart and North Jensen Beach. Both of these facilities utilized BCR’s proprietary, industry-revolutionizing Neutralizer process.
Campbell’s scope of work included the installation of the industrial grade water, sewer, and chemical piping systems, the multiple drum-like sludge transporters, the setting of the external storage tanks, and more. It was Campbell’s experience with these complex, highly specialized treatment facilities that brought us to this project. Importantly, it was also this experience that enabled us to self-perform the setting of the large exterior storage tanks. While heavy duty cranes were used to set the tanks in place, Campbell personnel stood ready to guide them into place on the concrete pads. Tolerances for accuracy were expressed in centimeters, not inches. The tanks were successfully nestled onto small crosshair markings on the concrete pads without incident. In regards to the maze of process piping, Campbell’s on-site crew at times had to improvise the routing of the piping. Additionally, Campbell personnel designed the crucial bracketing system at the chemical feed station.
About the Process:
BCR Environmental’s proprietary neutralization process enables the recycling of organic waste to a natural, high-quality product for agricultural use. In both the Stuart and North Jensen Beach projects, the system was retrofitted into the existing treatment plant thereby allowing the municipalities to recycle wastewater residuals. This organic process reduces operational costs, energy consumption, and the overall carbon footprint of the facilities.
The Neutralizer solution is BCR’s patented Class A/EQ (Exceptional Quality) onsite biosolids treatment system. Neutralizer has become the most installed Class A/EQ biosolids management solution in the State of Florida because it is simple, safe, environmentally responsible, and cost effective for wastewater treatment plants of almost any size.
Neutralizer treats waste activated sludge (WAS) in a batch process to produce nutrient rich Class A/EQ fertilizer in accordance with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations. The process eliminates the need for complex wastewater treatment infrastructure and requires only hours to achieve results that often take weeks with traditional Class A technologies. The fertilizer is pH adjustable and free from foul odors. By eliminating odors, air quality at the wastewater treatment plant, surrounding community, and the residuals application site is improved. Neutralizer allows existing digesters to be taken offline or eliminated from the design of a new plant, saving operational and construction dollars. The entire neutralizer process uses approximately 5% of the energy expended by a single digester, making it cost effective and results in the reduction of the carbon footprint of the plant. These improved operational efficiencies save both financial and natural resources.
